At a local library sale couple of years ago, I bought a book called, "Metropolitan Cats," published by the Metropolitan Museum of Art in 1981. In it I found a photo of an early 1900s lithograph, created by an unknown member of the Wiener Werskstatte, an association of artists and craftsmen in Vienna. It seemed to me that it would be lovely as an embroidered piece, so I modified the design and traced it onto unbleached muslin.
